The Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering at the University of Tokyo, in collaboration with the Center for Information Infrastructure, established the Center for Education and Research in Security Informatics on February 1, 2019, and began conducting research and education activities. Through a comprehensive study of system security and security-based academic technologies, the Center establishes a new information security technology system beyond the existing security technology framework, and promotes the establishment of an advanced and practical information security education system to cultivate the next generation of human resources.
With the increasing diversity and complexity of security threats, it is imperative to understand the basic principles of computer systems. In order to reduce the defense and damage to such new attacks, there are limits to the development of existing technologies only by extrapolating them. Research centers integrate practical research and academic results while analyzing actual threats in the security field and applying their knowledge to research and development. So that the results can be quickly applied to real life. To achieve this goal, the Center conducts advanced research in a wide range of security-related basic fields, with a comprehensive study of system safety and security basic technologies as practical research.
In terms of human resource development, the Centre aims to establish an effective security education system across a wide range of academic fields, develop practical and systematic human resource development plans to provide education for students and thereby facilitate the participation of all in efforts to ensure cyber security. Through this cross-sectoral, medium - and long-term secure human resource development, the Centre will work with industry, academia, government and the private sector to contribute to the realization and development of a social data-driven society by ensuring information security for society as a whole.
