QAAFI is the research institute of the University of Queensland, one of the world's leading research institutions for tropical and subtropical agriculture and food production. Its work spans crop, horticulture, animal, nutrition and food science, with support from industry and the Queensland Government.
QAAFI consists of four interconnected research centers focusing on the challenges facing the tropical and subtropical food and agribusiness sectors in tropical and subtropical systems.
QAAFI's vision is to make Queensland and Australia globally recognised leaders in subtropical and tropical agri-food research and knowledge leadership to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of agriculture and food systems. QAAFI will build on four cross-cutting themes of agribusiness, value chains and bioeconomy, predictive agriculture, sustainable agrifood systems, healthy agriculture and healthy community food, with a focus on solutions and impact, based on its four disciplinary centres (Crop Science, Animal Science, Horticultural Science and Nutrition and Food and Food for Nutrition and Food).
