SBMS teaches science, health, and medicine courses to more than 15,000 students each year across a wide range of disciplines including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, neuroscience, development, and cell biology.
Studying biomedical sciences offers pathways to a variety of career opportunities for medical, clinical, and pharmaceutical careers, as well as discovery and translational research. The Faculty's research covers nine research topics designed to understand the structure and function of the human body in health and disease.
The Institute's knowledge benefits are designed to help with healthy pregnancy, healthy body, healthy mind, and healthy aging, and many of these academics collaborate with clinical and industry partners. They have an International Exchange Honours Programme and an active group of advanced degree postgraduate students from Australia and around the world.
The institute has core research facilities in histology, microscopy, molecular biology, physiology, as well as newly renovated informal learning and study areas for students at the Biomedical Center. The Gross Anatomy facility and the Integrated Pathology Learning Facility are open to teaching and learning opportunities as well as research projects.
