首尔国立大学财经研究所成立于2009年4月10日，通过与国内外知名学者合作，积极开展金融市场、金融机构、监管、政策的一流学术研究，最大限度地促进经济学、金融与商业、法律、数学与统计学、工程学等各个领域的学者之间的跨学科互动。基于学术严谨性，为完善金融体系、金融业健康、预防金融危机提出客观的政策建议。

SIRFE为了把握金融环境变化带来的新机遇，对金融市场、金融机构、金融体系、金融政策等进行了基础性、全面的研究。定期邀请韩国和海外的知名学者和专家参加学术研讨会、讲习班和会议，定期发布出版学术研讨会，讲习班或会议的研究成果。

Founded on April 10, 2009, the Institute of Finance and Economics of Seoul National University actively conducts first-class academic research on financial markets, financial institutions, regulation, and policy through cooperation with well-known scholars at home and abroad, and maximizes interdisciplinary interaction between scholars in various fields such as economics, finance and business, law, mathematics and statistics, and engineering. Based on academic rigor, it puts forward objective policy suggestions for improving the financial system, the health of the financial industry, and preventing financial crises.

In order to grasp the new opportunities brought about by changes in the financial environment, SIRFE has conducted basic and comprehensive research on financial markets, financial institutions, financial systems, and financial policies. Well-known scholars and experts from Korea and overseas are regularly invited to participate in academic seminars, workshops, and conferences, and research results of academic seminars, workshops or conferences are regularly published and published.
