The MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), founded in 2003 by the MIT Computer Science Laboratory and the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, is dedicated to pioneering new research in computing with computer science and artificial intelligence to improve the way people work, learn, and play. CSAIL focuses on developing new technologies that advance basic research in computing and inspire the development of scientists and technicians. Through hundreds of different projects, more than 60 research groups have developed new ways to improve the intelligence, annual agility, safety and operational efficiency of systems and machines.
CSAIL continues to promote the application and development of computing fields through the development of basic new technologies and basic research, applying the theory and research results of computing to all aspects of production and life, and the technology of the World Wide Web, RSA encryption and the Internet has allowed CSAIL to help shape the pillars of modern society. By working with companies, institutions and other research groups, CSAIL provides theoretical support to translate into economic benefits, and more than 100 companies have been generated by the research.
At present, CSAIL's main research areas are in artificial intelligence and computer systems and theory, seeking the further development of human-computer interaction, and promoting the extensiveness and real-time nature of in-depth mathematics in computers, developing new methods, rules, systems and models from both hardware and software aspects, and then serving human society and the information age.
