北京大学中国社会科学调查中心（Institute of Social Science Survey, ISSS）成立于2006年9月，是北京大学社会科学的数据调查平台，也是北京大学开展中国社会问题实证研究的跨学科平台。中心目前承担三个大型社会调查项目——中国家庭动态跟踪调查、中国健康养老追踪调查和中国企业创新创业调查。中国家庭动态跟踪调查、中国健康养老追踪调查两个项目的目的均是收集反映我国民生状况的高质量微观数据，用以分析社会民生方面的问题，为政策制定提供依据，同时推动社会、经济、教育等跨学科研究工作。中心有一支专业化的社会科学调查队伍，利用最新的计算机辅助调查系统保证调查数据的质量。

2014年中心得到国家自然科学基金委的资助，成立了国家自然科学基金-北京大学管理科学数据中心，是国家自然科学基金对北京大学中国社会科学调查中心的重大项目支持，同时也是服务全国管理科学的数据收集与数据服务中心。数据中心在原有数据收集的基础上，拓展了数据服务和智库研究的平台功能。数据收集方面，在运行CFPS和CHARLS的同时，数据中心也在不同领域开展了数据调查项目；在数据服务方面，中国调查数据资料库依托“北京大学开放研究数据平台”建立资料库数据空间，进行数据的发布与服务，目前发布的数据资料包括CFPS和CHARLS数据。中心智库则以构建开放性的、跨学科研究平台为目标，旨在大力推动运用科学的量化研究方法，以开发和利用CFPS、CHARLS等优质数据资源为基础的量化研究，并针对国家经济和社会管理的重大需求，积极为国家发展提供有实证依据的政策建议。

此外，中心还组成了由北京大学以及国内外专家学者参加的顾问机构，为中心的学术发展提供咨询，帮助设计抽样和问卷等技术环节。中心组织专家学者利用数据撰写研究报告，目前已经出版三期《中国民生》报告，即将出版《中国收入状况报告》、《中国教育发展报告》、《中国家庭动态报告》等。

Institute of Social Science Survey (ISSS), founded in September 2006, is a data Survey platform for Social sciences of Peking University and an interdisciplinary platform for empirical research on Social problems in China. At present, the center undertakes three large-scale social survey projects -- The Chinese Family Dynamics Tracking Survey, the Chinese Health and Pension tracking Survey and the Chinese Enterprise Innovation and entrepreneurship Survey. The purpose of both the Chinese Family Dynamics Tracking Survey and the Chinese Health and Old-age Tracking Survey is to collect high-quality micro-data reflecting the people's livelihood in China, analyze the problems related to the people's livelihood, provide a basis for policy making, and promote interdisciplinary research on society, economy and education. The center has a professional social science survey team, using the latest computer aided survey system to ensure the quality of survey data.

Center is supported by the national natural science foundation in 2014, founded the national natural science foundation of China - Beijing university management science data center, the national natural science foundation of Beijing university, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences research center of the support of major projects, and the scientific management of data collection and data service center. On the basis of the original data collection, the data center has expanded the platform functions of data services and think tank research. In terms of data collection, while running CFPS and CHARLS, the data center also carries out data survey projects in different fields. In terms of data services, China Survey Data Database relies on "Peking University Open Research Data Platform" to establish database data space and conduct data release and service. At present, the data released include CFPS and CHARLS data. Centre, a think-tank, is to build open, interdisciplinary research platform as the goal, to vigorously promote scientific quantitative research methods, such as development and utilization of CFPS, CHARLS quality data resources on the basis of quantitative research, and focused on the needs of national economic and social management, actively provide with empirical basis for the national development policy recommendations.

In addition, the center has formed a consulting body with the participation of experts and scholars from Peking University and home and abroad to provide advice for the academic development of the Center and help design sampling and questionnaire and other technical links. The center has organized experts and scholars to use data to write research reports. It has published three reports on Chinese People's Livelihood, and will soon publish China's Income Status Report, China's Education Development Report and China's Family Dynamics Report.
