The MIR Human Laboratory at St. Petersburg University conducts interdisciplinary research in St. Petersburg and other parts of Russia. Studies the psychological, psychophysiological and genetic characteristics of child and adult development with different childhood experiences. The laboratory, which opened in 2014 on the basis of St. Petersburg State University with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation, won a large competition with the project 14.Z50.31.0027 "Effects of early Deprivation on Biological behavioral Indicators of child development".
The director is Elena Leonidovna Grigorenko, a clinical psychologist and expert in developmental disorders, with a PhD in psychological sciences. Participants are children and adults with experience in children's institutions, as well as orphanage graduates with children.
The lab also studies children with autism spectrum disorders and speech and speech development disorders. Its research team uses licensed psychological techniques and certified research equipment. All specialists are qualified psychologists, psychophysiologists and biologists.
The lab protects confidential information about research results and personal data, but stands ready to provide participants with personal feedback and to discuss psychological approaches and come up with new ideas for educational games.
The results of this study will make a unique contribution to the development of ideas about the effects of early institutionalization on thinking, language, speech and adaptive development in adolescents and adults.
