Founded in 1890, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories is a private, non-profit research laboratory that has shaped contemporary biomedical research and education through programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology, and quantitative biology. The laboratory has 8 Nobel Laureates and 1,000 employees, including 600 scientists, students and technicians. Conferences and course programs host more than 12,000 scientists from around the world each year on campuses in Long Island and Suzhou, China. The lab's education department also includes an academic publishing house, a graduate school, and programs for middle, high, and undergraduate and faculty.
With the mission of molecular biology research, the laboratory has always been at the forefront of the times, helping modern science shape development with its own scientific research achievements, educational publicity and influence, and working closely with the outside world to jointly promote the prosperity of science and technology and benefit all mankind. Research in the laboratory is enriched by collaboration with scientists from other universities, hospitals, and the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. The innovative spirit, vision, and talent of lab scientists continue to make CSHL one of the top 1 percent of life sciences institutions with the most cited studies published.
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory will inherit the spirit of scientific research for more than 100 years, and continue to combine basic and applied research to promote the continuous development of cancer cure, food safety, genetically modified crops and personalized medicine. In the coming years, researchers in the lab will expand the extraordinary infrastructure developed, using molecular and cellular technologies to make discoveries that improve the human condition.
