Founded in 1917, it conducts state-of-the-art basic materials research in the fields of transportation, energy, infrastructure, medicine and digitalization, focusing on nanostructured metal materials and semiconductors, considering the synthesis and processing, characterization and properties of materials under practical application conditions, and reactions. Using a highly interdisciplinary approach that combines chemistry, physics, engineering, and materials science, we contribute to the development of new high-performance materials for high-tech structural and functional components.
