贝壳本身就是自然界的艺术品，拥有绚丽光泽和美妙形状。许多设计师都会从贝壳中得到灵感来源，或者将其作为设计材料。擅长镶嵌工艺的设计师Bethan Gray同 Nature Squared 合作，利用贝壳和羽毛作为设计材料，设计出一系列风格华丽精美的家具，将原本无用的废物加以艺术加工，循环成为精致的艺术生活用具。

设计师从海鲜加工企业购买他们弃之不用的贝壳，选择了当地一种粉红色的贝壳，处理后将其裁剪成丝缕形状，经过打磨使其变得平滑，而后镶嵌在桌面上成为一张完整的桌子。拥有半透明质感且外壳耐磨的的牡蛎在热带沿海地区常被作为玻璃的替代品，设计师将其打磨塑形后镶嵌在家具表面，为家具镀上一层动人的光泽。

废物利用是设计的最基本要求，设计师将被剥取珍珠后的养殖蚌贝壳收集起来，经过研磨后嵌入基材，再将黑色树脂填充在缝隙中，形成简约的风格。鲍鱼被食用后剩下的外壳经过加工编程银光璀璨的精美物件，拥有彩虹色泽的轻薄江珧贝壳构成纹理独特的咖啡桌。

Nature Squared 购买了被丢弃的鹅毛，从底部把羽毛染色，形成从黑到白的过度。然后将其仔细排列整齐，形成典雅简约的图案，谨慎地将羽毛镶嵌到家具中后加以透明树脂密封，形成黑白相间、简洁大方的家具。另一款羽毛边桌则用长羽毛散开成树枝，然后在长羽毛间镶嵌鸡毛，形成舒展的枝叶花朵。羽毛自身的轻盈灵动让边桌在黑色底色中也显现出轻灵之感。

Design beautiful furniture with discarded shells and feathers

Bethan Gray, a designer who specializes in inlaying craftsmanship, works with Nature Squared to use shells and feathers as design materials to design a series of gorgeous and exquisite furniture, which artistically processes useless waste and recycles it into exquisite art living utensils.
The designers bought their discarded shells from seafood processing companies, selected a local pink shell, processed it and cut it into a silky shape, polished it to smooth it out, and then embedded it on the table to become a complete table. Oysters with translucent texture and abrasive shell are often used as a substitute for glass in tropical coastal areas, and designers polish and shape them and set them on the surface of the furniture to plate the furniture with a touching luster.
Waste utilization is the most basic requirement of design, designers will be stripped pearls after the cultured mussel shells are collected, ground and embedded in the substrate, and then the black resin is filled in the crevices, forming a simple style. The shell left after the abalone is eaten is processed and programmed with a beautiful silver sparkle, and the light Jiangjiao shell with rainbow color constitutes a uniquely textured coffee table.
Nature Squared purchased discarded goose feathers and dyed the feathers from the bottom to create a black-to-white transition. It is then carefully arranged to form an elegant and simple pattern, and the feathers are carefully inlaid into the furniture and sealed with transparent resin to form a simple and generous furniture with black and white. Another feather side table uses long feathers to spread out into branches, and then inlaid with chicken feathers between the long feathers to form stretched branches and flowers. The lightness and agility of the feathers themselves make the side table also show a sense of lightness in the black background.
