森林火灾的原因复杂多样,无论因为什么原因,火势蔓延与林木树叶的易燃性关系重大。在森林防火方面除了需要提高指挥控制领域的技术和能力,选择合适的办法切除燃烧媒介的联系也是重要的防火方法。

干燥季节时森林火灾频发的时间段,以色列一家初创公司Fighting Treetop Fire面对夏季蔓延肆虐的森林火灾,提出了用精确的算法使激光束摧毁多叶的树梢,帮助减少燃烧媒介的接触,将火势引导回地面,防止火势在树木之间的蔓延。

其中提到的激光清除树叶方法在别的领域已经有过合适的操作。2014年11月荷兰Strukton公司研发出一种清除轨道落叶的激光设备,通过连续激光脉冲使叶片的有机物质汽化,消融杂质,从轨道上脱离。
