强劲的飓风带来的狂风暴雨和引发的风暴潮以及水位上升等问题让专职研究者和群众都对潜在风险极为担忧。美国国家飓风中心借助混合现实技术播报天气,利用虚拟引擎生成的现实效果,将飓风带来的风暴潮高度直观地呈现在观众眼前。
将混合显示技术运用于天气预报,可以提高公众对极端天气及其影响的认识,起到更好的预警作用。TWC和未来集团合作,让直播记者沉浸在磁共振模拟中只管地呈现时速200英里的龙卷风的强大破坏性。
主持人一开始在2D显示器前降解龙卷风破坏力背后的科学原理,混合现实技术让一根逼真的电线杆撞进演播室,电源线与主持人脚下的电线纠结在一起,几分钟后整个工作室就变成了废墟,逼真直观地展示了极端天气可能造成的后果,用视觉模拟来解释事实。

Take advantage of mixed reality to augment the intuitiveness of weather forecasting
Weather forecasts, as far as possible, inform people of future weather conditions in advance, so that people can be prepared for weather changes and minimize losses. Hurricane Florence, which formed off the east coast of the United States in 2018, was considered the most powerful storm in the region in more than three decades before making official landfall.
The storms and storm surges caused by strong hurricanes and the rising water level have raised concerns among full-time researchers and the general public about the potential risks. The National Hurricane Center uses mixed reality technology to broadcast the weather, using the reality effect generated by the virtual engine to visually visualize the storm surge brought by the hurricane in front of the audience.
The application of hybrid display technology to weather forecasting can improve public awareness of extreme weather and its effects, and play a better early warning role. TWC partnered with Future Group to immerse live reporters in magnetic resonance simulations to present the devastation of a tornado at 200 miles per hour.
The host initially degraded the science behind the destructive power of the tornado in front of a 2D display, mixed reality technology allowed a realistic telephone pole to crash into the studio, the power cord was tangled with the wire under the host's feet, and after a few minutes the entire studio was reduced to rubble, realistically and intuitively showing the possible consequences of extreme weather, using visual simulations to explain the facts.
